Afghanistan
Our lapis lazuli jewelry is made by skilled Afghani refugees currently living in Pakistan. Lapis is a semiprecious stone mined high in the mountains of Afghanistan, where it was originally mined 6,000 years ago. Facing the hardship of war today and for most of their lives, these Afghani artisans still practice the same style of jewelry making that has been passed down from parent to child for generations. Imported by New Ramona, an active member of the Fair Trade Federation since 1990.
